I like your necklace…

Here’s a short one…

This happened to my brother about 1 week ago. He was helping his friend move to a new house. They were moving things from the bedroom out to the living room, waiting to be transported to the new house. After they were done moving, they went to the kitchen to have a drink. His friends parents and siblings were all there.

This is where it happened. My brother was sitting next to his friend when he suddenly felt something tugging on his necklace. Instantly, he fling his hand behind to see who catch whoever it was. He turned around, but no one was there. He asked his friend if he was tugging his necklace just now but his friend said no and gave him a weird look. Then they both instinctively looked towards the ceiling and there’s nothing there.

My brother said he kinda freaked out. So who or what do you think had been tugging on his necklace?

Langsuir…

My first post on this blog (not long ago) is about my own encounter during national service. In this post, I’ll share a story, not my own encounter but from my National Service dorm mate. Before I start let me explain a little on the surroundings of the camp. It is surrounded in the middle of a jungle. On the left, there’s the thick jungle. On the right there’s palm oil plantation. In front there’s a hill. Our female dorm is located in front of the male dorm but it was blocked by concrete wall. So the male dorm is exactly in front of the hill…

She is a devoted Muslim. Everyday she’ll get out of bed around 4.30am to bath then perform her ’subuh’ prayer. That’s her routine for the 1st 2 months during National Service. However, things change after she saw something that is unexplainable…

As usual, she gets up at 4.30am. After she gathered all her things, she began walking to the bathroom (which is located behind our dorm). Once she stepped out from the dorm, she saw something float pass at her right eye corner. She turned to look at it. As it was moving quite fast, she thought it was kids toys like remote control helicopter or something.

After a while, she realised that there’s no kid in the camp area. So what could it be? As soon as she finish that thought, the ‘thing’ that she saw floating pass just now, returned the way it came. She take a second look at it and realised that ‘thing’ it was what the Malays call Langsuir. She moved back into the dorm without second thought.

Thank God the langsuir didn’t do anything to her. But ever since that day, she no longer go to the bathroom at 4.30am alone…

Note: Langsuir is believed to be a person who practices black magic. They can separate their head from body and are after newborn babies… In the older days, it is said that langsuir will linger outside houses where mothers are giving birth and will snatch babies as soon as they are born… and if they don’t get back to their body by sunrise, they’ll die. Another way to put an end to them is to turn their body face down so their head cannot fit onto their body, then they’ll eventually die…

Penunggu…

My ‘kampung’ is in Kedah. Next to my grandpa’s house, there a small ‘jungle’. It has been left since long time ago. Rumour has it that there’s someone or rather ’something’ in staying in there.

I have a cousin brother staying near by my grandpa. He is one who loves to run around. One day he decided to explore the ‘jungle’. Out of so many hours of the day he picked 5 something in the evening. Older people believe that once the sun starts to set, those ‘things’ start to roam the Earth.

So into the ‘jungle’ he went. I don’t know where he find the guts to go into that place alone. He checked the place out for about 30 minutes and decided to leave the place since there’s nothing much to see. When he turned around to leave, he thought he saw something moving at the corner of his eyes. Not giving it much thought, he started walking out from the jungle but again, he saw black shadow moving. He looked around to see who or what that was but couldn’t see a single soul. He then get a shock of his life when he saw a pair of red eyes staring right at him. That ‘thing’ was at least 10ft tall with fiery red eyes and it was staring right at him. He then ran like he never run in his life, without looking back until he reach his house.

About 2 months before this incident, the people of that place did try to clear the little ‘jungle’ with a bulldozer. But everytime the bulldozer gets near to that place, the engine just seemed to die. One of the bulldozers blade even broke.

The ‘thing’ that my cousin saw, according to the Malays it is known as penunggu….

Istana Raja Bersiung…

This story is related to me by my 2nd aunt’s husband (my ku cheong)…

Istana Raja Bersiung is located in a secluded location in Bukit Pinang, Kedah. It has been left empty for many many years…

Istana Raja Bersiung is also well known among people who likes fishing. It is said to have the nicest ‘ikan keli’ or known as toh sat in Hokkien. My uncle went fishing with his friends in the Istana Raja Bersiung one weekend. They managed to catch quite a number of fat ikan keli…

After hours of fishing, they decided to call it day, that’s when the unbelievable happened…

They started to pack and get ready to leave the place when they realise that there’s NO WAY OUT.

They tried to look everywhere for the exit but couldn’t find one. So after 1-2 hours of searching they gave up… Then one of them said that people used to face the same the situation as them and all they did was to remove all their clothings… So they decided to try it.

Once they removed their clothes, the exit is just right is front of them. They ran off from they place and never looked back again… I heard that the fishes there are ‘protected’ and only it’s ‘owner’ can have eat it…

Now everytime I pass that area, I feel chilly…

Ghost Month Taboo…

As you know the 7th Lunar month is known as the Ghost Month. I’m going to share with you some taboo associated with this Ghostly Month.

1. Avoid saying the word ‘ghost’. Saying the word ‘ghost’ is like inviting ‘them’
2. Avoid going out after dark.
3. Bring in all the clothes that you take out to dry after dark.
4. Do not disturb the offerings.
5. Do not sing after dark as ‘they’ are attracted to it.

These are some of the things that you should avoid doing during that special month.

Until next time, be safe…

Possessed…

I did not believe that people will get possessed, that is until i saw it with my own eyes…

I still remember, about a year ago I was selected for National Service Programme (NS). I left for the camp on the 18th of March 2007. The camp is situated in the middle of a jungle, the surrounding is beautiful. Everything went well for the first few days.

On the 22nd of March, after dinner. All trainees gathered at the dining hall which also serves as a ceremony hall. It was 9pm when we gathered. As the trainers/instructor was briefing us, one Malay girl started to cry. We thought she cried because she missed her family, boy we were wrong big time. She cried as if she is terrified of something. We asked her what’s wrong, but she didn’t say anything and just kept crying. After a while, she passed out.

Five minutes later, she regained consciousness, but all of a sudden she started to scream like nobodys’ business. One of my trainer said she was possessed. We tried to control her. There’s about 6 of us trying to hold her down. But she was stronger than us. After about 15 minutes of struggling, she stay quiet.

The next thing I know, a few person started screaming too. 12 girls, all having their menses. We are asked to leave the hall and proceed to the surau. The trainers then moved all the 12 girls to the surau. The ‘ustaz’ came to do the ‘exorcism’. All I remember is I heard lots of screaming. The whole ordeal ended at 12:30am. We called that night ‘mass possession night’.

We thought it ended there. But one girl in my dorm keep getting visits from her ’special guest’ everday at the dusk. Sometimes she’ll scream like nobodys’ business, sometimes she’ll be quiet as a mouse. Nevertheless, she and I remained good friend until today.
